Mikec1029
Thanks for the warm welcome, I grew up in Brackendowns and last year got my own place in Albertsdal. What visa would I need to apply for as a Qualified Mechanic? Currently Iv been in the trade for 9 years and am a Workshop Foreman. How easy would it be to get the visa considering I would bring my girlfriend and son? I did some points test and got 65 points, is that good?Cheers
Tazzn
Hi Mike and welcome to the forumThere are definitely mechanics on the SOL list because we checked for my husband but because he is a marine mechanic and has never done a trade test it would have been difficult for him. Were you planning on using an agent? If so they can definitely help advice if you have all the correct papaerwork and what visa is best etc...
Mikec1029
HiI was looking at using an agent but was also looking at doing it myself. I just want to compare costs. Obviously an agent would be easier but if it costs an arm and a leg I'll do it myself.
Lisa505
Hi Mike,My boyfriend and I chose not to use an agent. We're both Chartered Accountants so the skills assessment will be different for you. We haven't had any problems so far. The process is fairly simple. You do however have to very hands on and do a lot of research just to make sure you're doing everything properly. We have submitted everything and just waiting for a CO to be assigned (fingers crossed).Yes 65 points is really good The vast majority usually have 60 points. So anything above that is always useful. Be careful not to overstate points when completing your EOI Good luck to you and I also have definitely found the forum useful!
