Hi all

Can anyone help with / Give advice/ Suggestions please?

I am a New Zealand citizen and employed in Perth.

My partner is only a New Zealand Resident and we are trying to find him employment.

The partnership visa will take a long time and we cannot afford to have him unemployed for months.

Currently he drives semi's ( refridgerated ) in Auckland, has many types of heavy duty licences, not all converted in New Zealand.

In South Africa he had his own bussiness installing kitchens for places like Builder's warehouse and Easy life kitchens. Not only doing Melamine ( MDF) but mostly solid wood kitchens.

He doesn't have the Trade qualification everyone requires here.

We are hoping that a job offer will get him a bridging visa.

How does he get a "P" licence?

Does anyone have contatcs forl ocal buss drivers jobs perhaps?

Would really appreciate some suggestions!

Sonja

Sonja I'm confused because I thought on another thread you said you're staying with friends on the GC? Did you already get a job in Perth?

Hi Bronwyn, yest that is absolutely correct! Very observant of you.I didn't think too many read the forum...

I was very lucky to get a job, however it is in Perth!

I am very grateful to have been offered a job and I am now taking the next step to get my partner a job as well.

I must say he would be prepared to do any job at this stage.

Sorry I cant help, but wanted to say, we live close to a bus depot in Sydney and there are many guys in the area who do 7am-9am every week day morning on the buses, then go to work in their regular jobs. It look to be either special school buses or peak hour busses, as they would obviously need more drivers for a short period every morning, but not the rest of the day. A friend who does this has his own business and this is a nice steady income for him.

It might help new arrival (who have the appropriate drivers license).
