Alida
Hi all, I've been seriously lurking for quite a while, trying to not torture myself with immigration thoughts, being busy with baby anyways for the past five and a half months. Lived in the here and now. Happy, happy.Today, early morning, my brother, living in OZ already, send me a Whatsapp congratulating us with having a CO - WHAAAAATTT ????? He knew even before we knew (of course we don't run to the computer first time in the morning waiting for an email, we've been expecting to hear nothing till end of October !). He knew because the agent kind of became a family friend of ours even though I've never met her personally, and my brother kept the communication open on his side since she's in OZ too. And so, when hubby arrived at work, there the email graced his inbox - we have a CO !I've been sleepwalking through the house today, struggling to keep my thoughts to the point and the program. I resorted to the most basic tasks and let the children lead me in what they want Mommy to do today - my mind was not capable of organized planning and action - they loved it ! After the kids had their way with me and had their love sponges saturated, I started advertising 'stuff' on Gumtree ... Even lunch was only patties with toppings and fruits for salad.I guess I'll wake up tomorrow morning in a more awake state of mind, but till then, happy, happy !
Barbie
Awesome Alida. We are both celebrating today. It won't be long now and you will have your golden ticket. ...comfort zone... I like that. Its been an entirely different thing since we had kids! Had to learn that He has a sense of humor. I hope His timing for you is soon.

miran
I know EXACTLY how you feel!!!!! Congratulations! Did they request any additional info? Enjoy cloud 9, it's awesome!
Alida
Thank you, Barbie and Minks ! Yeah, hubby & I talk about our BC days (before children days), when we did this or that, hehe. But we won't change it for the world, our children are a real blessing and joy to us.Hi Miran, I see you're not far from here (CT) - I still feel a bit shaky on cloud 9, but I guess one gets used to the feeling of being 'up there', haha. Yes, kind of extra info regarding job history.Hubby has been haunting SARS and HR today to obtain all the extra paperwork the CO requested, all kinds of proof of his work history for the past - I think - seven years. What a job, with the voices at the other end of the line going 'eeeeehhh - let me put you throoouuuugghhhh ...'.Anyways, we'll get there, we'll get there. HadEnoughofJuju
Congratulations Alida, the end is near. When we got the visa the last couple of months at work was like that for me. I couldn't focus on anything. Still not sure how I made it through those 3 months without getting fired for non performance.
Janneman
Baie geluk Alida - hier vanaf (SAUSA) Amerika! Sewe jaar het verloop sedert jy by SAAustralia aangesluit het en ek weet dat jy by tye erg moedeloos was. Maar, die bal is nou aan die rol vir jou en jou gesin. Baie sterkte met julle reëlings vorentoe.
Alida
Thanks HEoJJ and Janneman, yes, we've been exited, despondent, sometimes anxious I must confess, we've done the roller coaster a few times, haha. Now it's forward from here, we are really, really thankful and at peace with it all.

Alida
Thank you all, I really don't think of myself as patient. That's my hubby's speciality. I ground my teeth way too often and too easily try to change something prematurely, but I'm learning from him. I wanted already to start selling the house, even though we don't know squat yet, haha. Anyways, all in good time, all in good time. This process has been and still is a personal learning curve for me too.
miran
When our CO requested IRP'5, bankstatements and salaryslips for 2005 - 2008, it took me more than a week to convince hubby to just finish the process. After 5 years waiting, he just didn't want to go through the hassle. Now he can' t stop thanking me for being such a nagging wife... You're almost at the finishing line! I'm writing IELTS this Saturday morning, speaking only at half past 6, maybe we can get together somewhere. Do you have preference of a state or city yet?Our PCC's took the longest. Have you applied for that yet? (Edit) I see you have already done medicals and PCC's. You do realise that your first entry date must be this November.... Are you going to move immediately or just activate? Edited July 15, 2014 by miran
Alida
Hi, Miran !We've finished all the paperwork, thanks to our agent who encouraged us to finish the medicals and the repeated PCC's earlier this year. I'm so grateful, because it would have been quite a hassle doing all that with a newborn ! We went a second time to the doctors just for baby's medicals and my x-rays, which was all quickly done.PM me if you ever get to Brackenfell area, I'll give you my number and directions, we'll have coffee / tea and enough to chat about !Hubby loves the idea of Adelaide, since it is said to be Stellenbosch at the sea. He spent most of his working years in Stellenbosch and grew up in Brackenfell. I'm easy, as long as it is not Northern Territory, or too hot, too humid or too cold, hehe.IF our first entry date is coming November, we'll have to be up and running in no time ! We are in a wonderful position that someone already wants our house, someone else already wants one of our cars and we have mostly second hand furniture (a principle for us while having little children in the house !) and will take nothing but musical instruments, clothing and a few boxes of books, special toys and a few kitchenware with. I'm SO looking forward to clean out cupboards, since I'm inclined to hoard, even though I do not like to hoard ! So I go on a clean-out mission every few months (I guess I've lost thousands of rands in the process already, by giving or throwing stuff away, hehe). Anyway, I look forward to starting from scratch.
Renny
congratz Alida!!! It has been a long time wating and can say that we know how you feel being part of the 175 group. We are flying out to Aus in exactly a weeks time. Next week this time we are on route to JHB already Have been spending a few days on the garden route and heading back to Cape Town tomorrow to say our final good buys to all. Our house registered on 30 June, so we have just been floating around and being on holiday, so ready for our adventure in Aus.You have been waiting sooo long, so no need to continue waiting. Get everything going and head on over. Gumtree is the best, we had a ball of a time selling stuff on there and all the last cr*p gets taken by the people working at the Milnerton markets as they sell almost any second hand goods. enjoy!!!

Alida
Thank you PARKS ! Wow, I see you've been through some tough ride yourself up till now ! Perseverance wins. It's been long, but it's been epic for us personally. We've grown so much, this last four years has been the toughest, but also the best ever ! I'm don't regret it, but I'm also looking forward to the unknown !
Alida
How boring to have to keep up with the 'regular' daily routine while my mind is racing in a hundred different directions !!I've started selling off stuff four years ago, continually emptying the house of every single piece of whatever that is not needed or wanted anymore. Only buying what is critically necessary. I've started giving stuff away, constantly having a box ready to drop things in for friends or the poor. Now I'm wandering around, WANTING to get busy with SOMETHING to do with moving, but there's basically nothing urgent to do !! Seems like I've taken my own fun out of this phase, haha. My cupboards already contains only the necessary. Oh well, little children do no good with hectic frenzy, so it's all good in the end, maybe.Edited to add: all docs the CO wanted has been emailed today, so now, THE WAIT ... Magenta
Does anyone know what the average waiting time is between CO and PR visa? I so badly want that visa and my patience is really starting to run out!!!
Alida
I don't think there is a set waiting time, I guess it depends on how busy your CO is. Some had their visas approved the very next day, some waited a month, only a few waited longer.
