Bullying at work

I was on probation in a managerial position(see the irony in that), I refused to make a complaint about the bullying and intimidation however as often it is the tables turn when you try and do the right thing and not make a fuss following all the good advice on the forum about tall poppy seed syndrome. She has come after me so now I am the one who they are disciplining with extended probation (6 month plus 6 months) and a performance plan written by the bully + HR and her as the evaluator.

The best advice at my age I would give another person...is walk away however I am the main breadwinner and we know the job market is tight. I have the T-shirt for having stood my ground and martyrdom is overrated when there is impact on your family.

3 things you need to know when offering me advice on how to proceed:

1. She is not my manager but a senior in another area

2. I have done nothing wrong

3. My manager has no backbone in this situation

Also I do not want to do anything to compromise my PR to citizenship in 2 years time.

May.....................your p.r. to citizenship is safe, so don't worry about that....................as long as you have done the 4 years, fill the form in and pay........it's yours.

Have you thought about getting some advice from Fairwork Australia?

If your manager won't help and HR is taking sides, then I would be seeing an IR lawyer for advice (just advice not action at this stage). Fair Work isn't really much help for ongoing issues. They seem to have more effect with unfair dismissal after the fact.

I know a great IR lawyer in Adelaide which would mean Adelaide prices rather than Sydney prices. A couple of Sydney firms outsource their work to her because she is good but cheaper than Sydney so they still make a profit. PM me if you want her name.

Thank you for your support everyone. It wont blow over unfortunately Bronwyn its at the tail end now. She is a bully with a history and she realises I am a threat as we report independently however she is more senior in her responsibilities so overseas parent company value her more of they had to choose. HR is going through the motions.

If you are going to go down May, and that was me...Stuff, I would go down swinging. I have walked away from too many fights and been reamed by unscrupulous people. I would stand my ground on cold fact. No emotion, just cold fact.

Man I hate it when people get picked on. Keep the faith May!

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for your support, it would seem very lonely if I did not have the forum and the the FB groups to support me. I got some advice from Mark de Wet in HR. Part of me wants to give my worry up to the Lord and part of me knows that Monday I have to sit there and painstakingly record everything and put everything into writing.

What choice do I have, to walk away would mean sitting idle at home as I have spoken to my recruitment agent and jobs are tight.

Keep fighting May, keep swinging. Make them pay for every blow. You are in the faith with God.

“I recently had the need to use the services of Mark de Wet from M2 HR Consulting on a case of bullying, intimidation and performance management. I found him to be very professional, discreet and knowledgeable in a situation that was both emotionally troubling and stressful for me. He coached me on my responses and approach to the sensitive issues I was faced with and what I take away from the whole experience is a better understanding and a sense of objectivity if ever I should be have a similar encounter. I really would not have been able to move on so fast without his patience and understanding, his support and responses were always present.” MHS

Hi May,we have chatted on a few occasions .....TALL POPPY Syndrome , new migrants suffer at the wrath of the Aussies because we need their job to breath so they take advantage of the situation.
