TRA just received our application - waiting for them to lodge the application now. My nerves are shot with the delay in processing time. I so hope we get a positive outcome before July.

Anyone else out there recently lodged their application and heard anything from them yet?

Western Australia

Hi there,I am new to this forum and am wanting some advice please.

We are a family of 4 (children 3 and 7 yrs) wanting to settle in WA.
My wife is a hairdresser and I am a Agricultural harvest and labour manager.

We have done some research on Australia and been advised that WA would be the best bet for us as a family.
I would love to hear from people out there who could give us some advice on the settling down process.

thank you

Adelaide Bound

Hi Everyone

I was very suprised when I checked on the Ecom.immi site today to see that my 457 Visa have been approved
- it's hardly been two weeks!! I don't want to sound like a chop but if it says "Applicant approved"
(it also says visa status active and gives the period of validity)
it does mean the Visa is finalized and approved right??? It seems unbelivable though...

I am heading to Adelaide for work - the company seems to be pretty organized and say they will assist me with
bank accounts, getting a vehicle, cellphone etc. but I am obviously still bit nervous about the whole process.

How much cash do i need to take? Some people say you need to take atleast $10k? Thats alot of tom to be carrying around!!

Also Im quite young so I dont have much of my own - a single bed,TV,xbox and study table in total - will it be better to just
buy new stuff that side? There is a shipping company that ships boxes of stuff so maybe just take smaller stuff? It sounds like
a better route than getting half a container??

Anyway thanks for the forum...I got a few great pointers on here!!

See You Soon

Good afternoon!

I'm new here. In fact, I've never joined a forum before, so this is exciting!

My husband and I will be coming to Australia soon and it would be lovely to meet a few people on this forum before we get there. We're originally from Pretoria but have been living in the UK for eight years. Our visas are ready and we're hoping to make the move this year. In fact, my husband has a job interview next week. We're trying not to get too excited because there's a good chance he wouldn't get the job, but it's difficult not to think about the huge change that could happen... I'm finding it difficult to think of anything else, to be honest!

We're hoping to settle in Sy<del class='bbc'></del>dney with our two toddlers and it would be such a boost for me if I could get to know a few people before we go. We've made the big move once before, when we came to the UK, and it's not easy at all. At least this time we're not leaving family behind.

For now I'm just saying hello, but hopefully I'll soon be asking lots of advice about everything. Fingers crossed for that job...

Best wishes to everyone from chilly UK.
